What Shield Is
Shield is a family digital safety service that provides DNS-based content filtering, device management, and attention state controls. It's designed to help parents protect their children online.
Shield is not:
- A guarantee against all online threats
- A replacement for parental involvement
- A surveillance tool for monitoring private content
Who Can Use Shield
- You must be 18 or older to create a parent account
- Child accounts are created and managed by parents
- You must have authority to protect the devices you add
Your Responsibilities
When you use Shield, you agree to:
- Keep your account credentials secure
- Only add devices you have authority to manage
- Use Shield in accordance with applicable laws
- Not attempt to circumvent our safety measures
Payments & Subscriptions
Shield offers both free and paid subscription plans.
- Paid plans are billed monthly or annually
- You can cancel at any time
- Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis
See our pricing page for current plans and features.
Limitations
Shield provides a layer of protection, but no system is perfect:
- DNS filtering cannot block all harmful content
- Determined users may find ways to bypass protections
- We cannot guarantee 100% uptime or availability
- Content categorization may occasionally be inaccurate
We do our best to provide reliable, effective protection, but Shield should be one part of your family's digital safety approach.
Changes to Service
We may update Shield's features, pricing, or these terms from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification.
Account Termination
You can delete your account at any time from your settings. We may also terminate accounts that violate these terms or engage in abusive behavior.
